I had the opportunity to attend a media presentation. All opinions are my own.

If you haven’t seen a live version of the holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, yet I highly recommend seeing Firehall Arts Centre‘s presentation. I had the chance to attend Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol” starring Sanjay Talwar and itwas simply heartwarming. It is playing from December 14th -24th at Firehall Arts Centre (280 East Cordova Street, Vancouver). Sanjay Talwar was incredible, as he played each character on his own with such ease and fluidity. He played all 40 characters with such vigor. He kept the audience entranced and engaged. We meet Ebenezer Scrooge, the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, Jacob Marley, Fezziwig and Fred.

If unfamiliar with the holiday tale after the rich Mr. Scrooge meets the ghosts of past, present and future, he becomes a softer and gentler man. He realizes that he should be kinder and more generous to others. He realizes that he does not want to live a sad and lonely life. He wants human connection and to leave behind a positive legacy.

The play showcases how the holidays can look so different for each family-based on income but in spite of that issue, the most important part of the holidays is being with friends and family. “A Christmas Carol” is one of those plays that is so wholesome, the entire family can (and should) attend. During the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it can be easy to get caught up in shopping, decorating and keeping up with the Joneses. Christmas is about togetherness, giving, and peace. This play reminds us what the holidays are truly about.
